Anthony Becht, Head Coach
In 2023, Anthony Becht led the St. Louis Battlehawks to a 7-3 record, which was the most wins amongst rookie head coaches and tied for the second best overall record in the XFL.
Becht played 11 seasons over 12 years at tight end in the NFL. Selected 27th overall by the New York Jets in the 2000 NFL Draft, Becht went on to also play for Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Arizona and Kansas City. From 2000-10, he played in 152 straight games, trailing only Brett Favre and Peyton Manning in that span.
Following his playing career, Becht worked as a college football analyst for ESPN and is still a host for NY Jets Gameday. He also coached Tight Ends in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl before accepting the same position with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football in 2019.
A graduate of West Virginia, Becht received the John Russell Award and was named the Mountaineer’s MVP in 1999. He served as a Trust Captain for the NFLPA Trust from 2015-20 and remains Legends Community Southeast Coordinator.
